Young Feet

Correcting early foot problems can prevent long-term chronic mobility issues in later life. The Oxford Foot and Ankle Centre can safely and effectively address conditions associated with growing feet. A number of different foot problems can affect children including structural issues with the foot such as flat-footedness, or general issues, for example, in-grown toenails or infections.

Sessions will usually involve both parent and child with an examination of the foot to gain a better understanding of the child’s complaint and what may be causing it. We will then talk through a management plan with parent and child, as well as any treatments which would help.

It is important that during early development any biomechanical problems are identified early to allow appropriate intervention and correction. Many problems are transitional but without correction can last longer and may develop into a more long-term difficulty.
